Mit Thomas Würke übernimmt zum 1. Juli 2026 ein neuer Geschäftsführer die Verantwortung für die WBVG. Der folgende Beitrag stellt ihn vor: seinen beruflichen Weg, seine Rückkehr in die Region und seinen Blick auf die kommenden Jahre des Unternehmens.
Wenn ich am 1. Juli 2026 die Geschäftsführung der WBV Peitz übernehme, dann ist das für mich weit mehr als ein beruflicher Wechsel. Ich komme in meine Heimat zurück. Ich bin in Lübben geboren, in Lamsfeld aufgewachsen, habe in Lübben mein Abitur gemacht und bin 1990 zum Studium nach Cottbus gegangen. An der damaligen Brandenburgischen Technischen Universität habe ich Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen für Bau studiert, also Bauingenieurwesen und Betriebswirtschaftslehre zusammen. Danach führte mich mein Berufsweg in die Baubranche, nach Berlin, nach Frankfurt, auf große Baustellen, in Projektleitungen mit bis 70 Millionen Euro Bauvolumen und zuletzt in die Verantwortung als Niederlassungsleiter im Bereich Allgemeiner Hochbau Berlin der Köster GmbH. Nun darf ich dieses Wissen hier einbringen, in einer Region, zu der ich gehöre. Das empfinde ich als großes Vertrauen.
Ich übernehme die WBVG zu einem besonderen Zeitpunkt und dass sie heute wirtschaftlich solide dasteht, ist keine Selbstverständlichkeit. Aus meiner beruflichen Erfahrung weiß ich, dass Unternehmen, die einmal in ernste Schwierigkeiten geraten, diesen Weg häufig kaum schaffen. Hier ist es gelungen. Und dafür gebührt Lutz Schneider große Anerkennung. Herr Schneider hat in vielen Jahren akribischer Arbeit die Grundlage geschaffen, auf der ich nun weiterarbeiten darf. Er hat das Unternehmen stabilisiert, Strukturen geordnet, Partner wieder eingebunden, Bestände entwickelt und eine Mannschaft geführt die fachlich stark, fleißig und gut organisiert ist. Auch bin ich Herrn Schneider besonders dankbar für die Art, wie er diesen Übergang vorbereitet. Wir führen gemeinsame Gespräche mit Banken, Wärmelieferanten, Architekten, Versicherungen und weiteren Partnern. Er bringt mich Punkt für Punkt an die Menschen heran, mit denen die WBVG arbeitet und ich sehe dabei sehr deutlich, was in den vergangenen Jahren entstanden ist.
Nun beginnt die nächste Etappe. Der Neubau in Kolkwitz ist für die WBVG ein bedeutendes Projekt, weil es viele Jahre kein echtes Neubauvorhaben gegeben hat. Die Baugenehmigung liegt vor, die nächsten Schritte werden vorbereitet: Baubeschreibung, Kostenschätzung, Partnerauswahl, Verhandlungen. Mein Ziel ist, dieses Projekt mit der notwendigen baufachlichen Sorgfalt umzusetzen. Es soll moderner Wohnraum entstehen, aber er muss wirtschaftlich tragfähig bleiben und zur Region passen. Gerade das ist die Aufgabe der kommenden Jahre: Qualität schaffen, bezahlbaren Wohnraum im Blick behalten und die Mittel so einsetzen, dass sie dem Unternehmen und den Mietern langfristig nutzen.
Der sichtbare Zukunftspunkt dieser Übergabe ist der Neubau in Kolkwitz. Dieses Projekt kam aus dem Kreis der Gesellschafter und ist für die WBVG besonders bedeutsam, weil es seit vielen Jahren kein echtes Neubauprojekt mehr gab. Die Baugenehmigung liegt vor, die weitere Vorbereitung läuft. Ich habe gern daran gearbeitet, weil es ein besonderes Quartier werden kann: moderne Wohnungen, gute Dämmung, niedriger Energieverbrauch, Fußbodenheizung, Wärmepumpentechnik und eine Heizlösung, die so gedacht ist, dass sie später auch auf neue Energieträger umgestellt werden kann. Wenn es gelingt, wird dieses Projekt ein Unikat im Bestand der WBVG.
Auch die Energiefragen werden uns beschäftigen. Wärmeversorgung, Photovoltaik, Mieterstrom, Ladeinfrastruktur und neue technische Konzepte gehören zu den Themen, die für Wohnungsunternehmen immer wichtiger werden. Die WBVG soll bleiben, was sie stark gemacht hat: ein verlässliches Unternehmen in regionaler Verantwortung. Gleichzeitig müssen wir Leerstand weiter abbauen den Bestand pflegen, Wohnungen verbessern und dort neue Perspektiven eröffnen, wo sie gebraucht werden.

This application remediates the website’s HTML, adapts Its functionality and behavior for screen-readers used by the blind users, and for keyboard functions used by individuals with motor impairments.

Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. As soon as a user with a screen-reader enters your site, they immediately receive a prompt to enter the Screen-Reader Profile so they can browse and operate your site effectively. Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology. To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on as soon as they enter the website.
These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.
Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside it.
Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.
We aim to support the widest array of browsers and assistive technologies as possible, so our users can choose the best fitting tools for them, with as few limitations as possible. Therefore, we have worked very hard to be able to support all major systems that comprise over 95% of the user market share including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera and Microsoft Edge, JAWS and NVDA (screen readers).
